Coda: Editor

I love Panic’s apps. They’re inexpensive, robust, and easy to use. Coda is my go-to editor and makes it very easy to manage all of my clients websites.  It’s jam packed with an incredibly intuitive user interface, text editor, baked-in FTP, SVN, CSS, Terminal, reference books and more. Transmit: FTP Client

There are already a couple of very good free FTP clients out there for Mac.  Filezilla and Cyber Duck top that list in my opinion, however for the paid bunch Transmit takes the cake. It’s the Mario Andretti of FTP clients. Transmit 4 is lightening fast and continues Panic’s knack for beautiful design and intuitive UI, while packing in top-notch advanced features for file syncing, navigation, transfers, SSH and much more. MAMP: Personal Web Server

I do most of my development locally before I ever put it up on either my development or production servers. MAMP is a lightweight Linux/Apache/MySQL/PHP (LAMP) stack that runs locally on your Mac. There is both a free and paid version which gives you GUI control over fine-tuning some of the services. For most developers the free MAMP version will do the trick. Learn more about MAMP here.

Adobe CS5: Web Premium

Adobes next iteration of their popular design and development tools. CS5 is packed with new features designers and developers will love. I’ve yet to try out the new Dreamweaver, but I hear it’s WordPress tools are great.

CodeBox: Code Snippet Manager

I first discovered CodeBox when browsing the new Mac App Store. After reading all the positive reviews of the software I decided to drop the $5 and try it out. I wasn’t disappointed. It’s a great code management tool. Easily store and sort all of your code in an intuitive user interface, and access it quickly using the toolbar search/add feature.
